The new coupe, 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C has been presented in early this year. We aren’t being used to see a lot of sports cars from Alfa Romeo, but that’s exactly what they delivered with one of their youngest models, 4C.
This sports car looks just like Italian roadster should, and offers some impressive performance to boot. 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C is being carried over, while its Spyder counterpart is set to debut by then.
2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Engine range
There’s no too much fuss about what’s under 4C’s hood. Only one engine is offered, but it does hell of a good job. 1.7L turbocharged 4-cylinder with direct injection is capable of putting up 237 horsepower and 258 pound feet of rotational force thanks to which, engine not only performs good, but sounds great as well.
Thanks to this engine, 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive, 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C is capable of reaching 155 mph of top speed and 0 to 60 time in 4.5 seconds. Spyder models are supposed to offer the same powertrain and should replicate these figures with ease.

Design – Inside and Outside look
4C’s exterior is exciting and inspiring. This marvel of Italian design gets a carbon fiber body in order to cut on weight which stands at some 2,400 pounds. Alfa Romeo’s arrow tip signature grille is ever-present, and hood’s bulk follows its layout while constantly becoming wider. From both sides of the grille, you’ll find offset hexagonal lower air intakes, while flared fenders house large singular headlights. There is no much hood after the doors are finished. That’s where engine is mounted, while small overhang with tiny trunk lid hides singular circular tail-lights.
Interior of 4C’s small cabin isn’t that inspiring. Surely, there wasn’t a lot of space for experimentation to begin with, but everything seems way too minimalistic for sports car’s price range. Sport seats and steering wheel offer some optional leather inserts, while dashboard is completely made out of plastic. Few red stitches here and there, luckily, improve this bland outfit. Instrument panel is completely tilted towards the driver and features a small display responsible for infotainment duties.
7-inch LCD display, which 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C offers instead of conventional gauge, changes colors according to driving mode and can be reconfigured. Finally, some carbon fiber accents around the doors go a long way to make sports car’s cabin acceptable. This is where feature list pretty much ends which is, we have to say, somewhat disappointing. Soon to arrive Spyder models will be able to convert themselves into cabriolets which might just be what this car needs.
2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Price details
Fuel economy ratings are not yet disclosed, but 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C is not a hypercar and thus, won’t exhibit that low figures. However, don’t expect high numbers as well. $55,195 is the starting price for 4C, while upper grades and Spyder models are supposed to cost much more. For instance, launching edition which comes in 500 units has a price tag of $69,695.
The biggest rivals are: BMW Z4, Porsche Boxster GTS and Mercedes SLK350.
2016 Alfa Romeo 4C is a great-looking sports car, but we have expected more from Italians when it comes to interior refinement. $50k and more is too steep for cloth and plastic. However, refinement wasn’t intended as 4C’s forte since most of resources went towards performance.
