Second generation of Bentley’s Continental GT has finally been revised and 2016 Bentley Continental GT will be slightly different. Apart from some design changes, 2-door coupe will get a performance boost which doesn’t seem necessary as the car had plenty of horses as it were. In any case, it doesn’t hurt.
The Engine range and drivetrain options
Just like the outgoing model, new Continental GT is powered by extremely strong (and consuming) 6.0L twin-turbo W-12 engine which this time makes 582 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque. That’s a 15 horsepower and pound feet of torque upgrade over the outgoing models. This time, however, W-12 version of Continental gets the cylinder deactivation feature which its smaller V-8 cousin (unchanged for this year) already had.
This allows the car to save you some fuel as it can drive with only 6 cylinders when there’s no need for more. 8-speed automatic transmission is carried over, though, and so is mandatory all-wheel drive. Oh, and yes, 4.0L twin-turbo V-8 models generate 521 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.

|Combined fuel economy||16.7 mpg|
Styling – Interior & Exterior
By looking at the new model, one would hardly be able to pinpoint the exact exterior changes, so we’ll point them out to you instead. Front fascia packs the same, but slightly smaller grille which naturally comes with new bumper. Slightly redesigned fenders still pack the trademark B-shaped side gills, while the trunk around the back gets the winged B logo which sits atop the nose as well. Finally, all this chrome which adorns the exterior is more than worth mentioning, but then, what have you expected from such extravagant car?
Interior is still lavish and basically unchanged. Diamond quilted leather obsession remains British car maker’s signature detail for 2016 Bentley Continental GT’ interior. Apart from high-quality leather seats, coupe and convertible alike pack some very soft and light cabin materials including carbon fiber. Central tunnel is conventionally designed and fits rather well with Continental’s dashboard and instrument panel.
Mentioned control panel packs a large 8-inch touch screen display which comes with all available infotainment features from the get-go. Electronic climate control is standard from the beginning as well, while optional Naim sound system costs “only” $7,000. Needless to say, the car packs Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hotspot which offer you all the advantages of a mobile office, for instance.
2016 Bentley Continental GT Price
Now, 2016 Bentley Continental GT spends a lot of fuel, especially in its stronger W-12 form. Exact figures say 12 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway for W-12 models, and 15 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway for V-8 models. They also offer extremely powerful performance as GT model easily reaches 0 to 60 speed in 4 seconds flat and top speed of 205 mph. GT range is expensive as well as models cost between $195,000 and $215,000.
2016 Bentley Continental GT remains superbly luxurious and extremely fast, but its exorbitant price (even for its qualities) hinders most people in owning it. New models show signs of progress, and we can soon expect all-new generation which should raise the bar even higher.
