Fiat might be in debt but this doesn’t mean they’ll stop fighting and finding ways to produce new models. One such is 2016 Fiat Aegea which debuted in Istanbul recently.
Turkey’s largest city was chosen for number of reasons, but main one is because Aegea’s production facility is in Bursa, some 100 miles due south of Istanbul. After Turkish, Fiat‘s future compact sedan will spread to around 40 other markets in Europe, Africa and Middle East. Don’t expect it to come to the states, however.
2016 Fiat Aegea Engine
Like any true European compact car, 2016 Fiat Aegea will come with a number of both petrol and diesel engines which range from 95 to 120 horses. As a compact car, Aegea doesn’t require much more than that, but it wouldn’t be bad to fit it with something more prolific. Apart from front engine – front-wheel drive setup, compact sedan will feature both automatic and manual transmission options.
Design – Inside and Outside look
From design’s standpoint, Aegea looks like a true executive sedan. It really looks that good, and not like any Fiat we have seen recently. Frontal fascia with slim hexagonal grille and corresponding trapezoidal lower air intake fit well with modern headlamps and angular foglights. Plenty of sharp creases adorn, both the hood and midsection which reveals a true arching roofline.
Finally, around the back 2016 Fiat Aegea gets contemporary set of tail-lights and a neat overhang. One would say that it doesn’t feature anything out of the ordinary, but knowing Fiat, this is certainly a step in the right direction.
Interior is also modern in a way that compact size allows it to be. Most Aegea’s will come with cloth seats and plastic dashboard with metallic accents. Some upscale packages might be expected, but don’t get your hopes high; Aegea is still an affordable compact car. Oval dashboard gets a special sub cluster which encompasses audio TFT display and gauges. Fiat/Chrysler touch screen display is also available, but only on top grades. We don’t yet have all technical characteristics to work with.
They will largely depend on selected markets, and this might be the main reason for that. Still, expect most of features which other compact cars offer since Fiat has to think about competition if they want their newest offspring to have bright future. It certainly has the look, and rich tech would only help it.
2016 Fiat Aegea Price & MPG
2016 Fiat Aegea will be quite an efficient small sedan. After all, it doesn’t get more than 120 ponies, plus it features diesel engines as well as petrol ones. Expect most efficient models to easily get to mid thirties mpg combined. Prices will follow niche and market’s requirements. Even though they will vary from country to country, a range between $18,000 and $25,000 seems legit.
2016 Fiat Aegea should help Italian maker refresh its hatchback-oriented lineup. Small sedan might be a look into the future or an impostor, but it still seems like a good choice. Who knows what future brings? We might even get it in the states somewhere down the line, but most likely under Abarth badge and with much more potent powertrain.
