We are experiencing the revival of many niches these days, and sport compact cars are only one of them. 2016 Ford Focus RS promises to be one of the most exciting vehicles in its class and its legendary status can only help it in achieving this.
Under the Hood and Specs
For its center piece, Ford has chosen Mustang’s own, but updated 2.3L turbocharged I-4 engine which now develops around 315 horsepower. They have also decided to offer it exclusively tied to 6-speed manual transmission which sends the power to all four wheels. These are some really good news indeed as RS version of Focus promises to be a real bargain concerning performance, thanks to these features.
Moreover, small hatchback should be able to accelerate from standstill to 62 mph in less than 5 seconds. Together with all this, new RS will feature plenty of unconventional upgrades to both powertrain and drivetrain alike, including different intercooler and cylinder head.

2016 Ford Focus RS Design – Inside and Outside look
While most people will recognize Focus’ cues from the get-go, they might still be left wondering. After all, 2016 Ford Focus RS exhibits plenty of differences in comparison to conventional lineup. Aston Martin grille is still present, but it has been covered with different materials, and frontal bumper is much sharper and toned down. Profile doesn’t reveal any significant changes apart from different wheels, while rear end remains similar to some extent as well. Large roof-mounted spoiler is a clear difference, and lower part of the bumper with couple of booster exhaust pipes is new as well.
Interior is generally the same as in conventional lineup, at least considering its design. Well-known dashboard layout has been recycled, but RS models will have a special cluster above the instrument panel with three distinctive meters. Materials, however, are especially chosen for 2016 Ford Focus RS. Suede/leather combination covers the seats and armrest, while plastic/leather combo furbishes the rest of the cabin.
8-inch MyFord touch screen infotainment system is standard, and so are most of features that it powers. Sony is responsible for sound systems, while safety options have basically been carried over from Focus ST. Advanced electronic systems include blind spot information system, lane-keeping assist and active park assist among others.
2016 Ford Focus RS Price and MPG
Fuel economy ratings should find themselves in low twenties at best. While city numbers are supposed to drop in teens, highway figures might fix things up if they managed to hold into high twenties. Exact price is not yet disclosed, but we expect the car to cost more than $35,000. This car will be available next year..
2016 Ford Focus RS will definitely elevate blue oval’s lineup along with other new models (like Ford GT for instance). Turbo hatchback finally arrives after a long hiatus from serial production and absence from World Rally Championship. New generation of RS’ is only intended for conventional production, but this car is everything but conventional. So much power in such a small body rarely is. Future Focus RS owners will get their hands on a great performer and nicely rounded off car which handles both short and long distances with ease.
