The new 2016 Ford Mondeo Vignale coming in a two version, sedan and wagon. Everyone knows that Lincoln is the luxury brand of Ford on the North American market but Ford does not have a premium marque in Europe to compete with the likes of BMW and Audi.
Not too long ago though, Ford of Europe released a car which managed to impress a lot of people through the technology and all the extras it comes over the base model. The 2016 Ford Mondeo Vignale is an all new car which is based on the same platform as the usual Mondeo, but which offers a lot of neat stuff over the usual equipment.
2015 model year:
2016 Ford Mondeo Vignale Price and Release date
It comes with unique interior colors, three different exterior colors which are available only on it and on the upcoming S-Max Vignale, a different engine range which should make most people happy as well as slight exterior changes which will surely differentiate it from the rest of the Mondeo range. At this point in time, the Vignale is only available for pre-order and it should be ready for sale until the end of 2015.
The price is quite high when compared to that of the base model meaning the Vignale starts at well over the equivalent of $50,000 which is already just as expensive or more expensive than some executive saloons like the A5 or the 3 Series.
The Engine range & Specs
Under the hood of the 2016 Ford Mondeo Vignale there are a few different engines to choose from. The base model comes with a 2 liter turbocharged EcoBoost unit which is quite capable at 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque but not that efficient when it comes to the fuel consumption. If power and fuel efficiency is what you’re looking for then the 2 liter twin-turbocharged inline 4 diesel is a better choice because it offers 210 horsepower, more than 300 lb-ft of torque, all while using around 50% less fuel than the petrol engines.
These two are available either with a 6 speed manual or with a Power Shift automatic and both of them can actually be had with all wheel drive which is a really nice addition.
In some countries the Vignale also comes with two hybrid choices. Both of these use a 2 liter naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle inline 4 petrol engine and a similarly powerful electric motor. The difference comes in the battery size which is bigger on one of them. This should allow for more than 30 miles of all electric range which will greatly reduce fuel consumption inside a city. The one with the smaller battery is better suited for people looking to use their cars on the open roads.
Design – Inside and Outside look
On the interior, the 2016 Ford Mondeo Vignale looks better than pretty much any other car in its class. The seats are all new and offer not only better support but also much better comfort. These also require nearly 110% more leather than before in order to give it the premium look it has and both the front and rear seats are ventilated and heated.
The dashboard is wrapped in a new type of leather and the car comes with all the usual extras as standard. There is a 12 speaker high fidelity audio system installed, satellite navigation, aluminum trimmings as well as inflatable seat-belts which is a first in Europe.
The outside of the Mondeo Vignale also received a few updates which include new wheels, a chromed front grille with a unique pattern with black inserts, new dual HID headlights in the front and newly designed LED tail lights, a few new color options for the exterior as well as a massive moon-roof which is offered as standard on both the sedan and on the station wagon.
