Finally, car lovers from Europe now can to buy the new 2016 Ford Mustang EU-Version. Most people around the World have heard about the Mustang, an iconic muscle car which shaped the car industry we know today. However, up until recently, the Mustang has only been sold in North America because many people thought that it was just too big and too hungry for gas in order to work anywhere else in the World.
However, Ford finally managed to prove that this is wrong with their latest model of the Mustang which has been released last year as an all new car which has nothing in common with the older model. The European version of the car is the 2016 Ford Mustang EU-Version and it is already available for ordering in all of Europe.
Design – Inside and Outside look
Let’s start with the exterior of the 2016 Ford Mustang EU-Version which is a bit more impressive than we first thought. The car looks very familiar because it is a Mustang. However, for a trained eye, it does look a bit more different. The front end has been slightly revised with a different bumper, the rear of the car received a small diffuser and a dual exhaust system which in the US, this is only available as standard on the V8.
The European model also comes with standard 19 inch rims which can be upgraded to a slightly different set which has a different Titanium-like color. Other additions over the base US version include the optional sport brake package which is offered as standard and it includes bigger rotors in the front and higher performance calipers as well as a small rear deck-spoiler.
Inside the cabin, the European version of the Mustang follows a very similar trend to the outside of the car. While the actual design is pretty much identical to the US version, it comes with a lot more gear as standard. The leather upholstery, Ford’s Sync 2 infotainment system, sport seats with heating and ventilation as well as the surround audio system all come as standard. The only real options are the satellite navigation system and the better audio system with the dedicated subwoofer.
Under the Hood
Engine wise, the 2016 Ford Mustang EU-Version is only available with two different engines. Unfortunately, the very fun to drive V6 is not available which is a bit of a shame. However, both the 2.3 liter EcoBoost inline 4 and the 5 liter naturally aspirated V8 are available. The smaller engine is one of the more capable inline 4 engines on the market with an output of 314 horsepower and 434 N*m of torque with most of the torque available for as low as 1,700 rpm.
The V8 is a bit more different because it revs higher and it offers more power with the cost of fuel consumption. It is capable of 418 horsepower and 524 N*m of torque which puts it on the same level with the M4, all while costing around 20,000 euro less, a great deal in anyone’s book.
Both engines come as standard with a 6 speed manual gearbox, rear wheel drive and a limited slip differential which is a great combination, especially since the Mustang now has one of the best chassis to come from North America. A 6 speed automatic can also be had as an option but it is nearly 1,500 euro more than the 6 speed manual which may not be such a great deal.
2016 Ford Mustang EU-Version Price
Just as you would think though, it is a bit more different than the base version of the US Mustang. Firstly, the European car is actually much more expensive so the base model starts at roughly the equivalent of $40,000 or more than 35,000 euro. This is nearly $10,000 more than the US version of the Mustang, and it is more expensive because it also offers quite a bit more.
