The new 2016 Infiniti QX30 concept revealed at this year’s Geneva Auto Show isn’t that different than Q30 concept from 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. In fact, the cars look so much alike that they can be considered as identical twins with different size. Both of these will be produced, and 2016 Infiniti QX30 should be branded as brand’s new compact crossover, being slightly taller and all.
Under the Hood
Nissan-Deimler cooperation comes at just the right time for 2016 Infiniti QX30 concept which is supposed to be produced with Mercedes’ own 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine from A Class and GLA Class models. 7-speed automatic gearbox is another feature that comes from this union, but at this point, that’s all we know. Additional powertrain options are unlikely since compact crossovers usually come with a single choice, especially if they are luxury vehicles which Infiniti certainly is.

New Design – Inside and Outside
Concept looks promising to say the least. It features sleek and elegant lines all over the chassis, but there are some details which will hardly make production. For instance, crossover’s midsection has some rather sharp creases which, although look astonishing, aren’t exactly production-friendly. Headlights will also be more conventional, and the rear end could be slightly revised as well.
The same has to be said for 21-inch wheels which don’t have anything to do near a compact vehicle. However, frontal fascia looks good, and apart from already mentioned sharp headlights, could be carried over to production without major changes.
We have seen QX30 concept’s interior as well, and it looks even better. Blue and brown combination of colors really shows you what Infiniti is all about; excitement and luxury. Full leather seats, leather armrest between them and overlapping dashboard are all colored. Dash features dual display layout and screens are separated by brown leather overlap with sharp asymmetric airvent upon it. Button and knob density has been lowered to the minimum for full presentation of Infiniti’s exciting interior lines.
However, we don’t expect production model to come furbished like this. Even though it should offer most of advanced tech features, it’ll have to shed some of its luxury equipment since it will be branded as a compact vehicle. Still, we can safely expect some advanced electronic safety systems in it like a rearview camera, blind spot monitors, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
2016 Infiniti QX30 Price and MPG
It might not get the same figures as most of Mercedes’, but more than 200 horsepower should be expected. Combine this with its body and 7-speed automatic transmission and you should get nice fuel efficiency for its power. However, 2016 Infiniti QX30 concept is definitely not a class leader in this segment. When it arrives to the dealers, expect it to cost at least $30,000 and to develop a starting price of $40,000 in top levels.
The main rivals are: BMW X1 and Mercedes – Benz GLA.
2016 Infiniti QX30 concept is definitely worthy of attention. This is the car which Nissan’s luxury division so desperately needed, and now, when they finally have it, QX30 is supposed to offer stern competition to both premium compact crossovers and hatchbacks alike.
