The 2016 Nissan Maxima Nismo arrives in fall this year. Nissan Maxima is one of those cars that went through all possible sizes, from compact car of seventies and eighties, over executive nineties to full-size flagship status in last ten or so years.
Seventh generation has seen six models already and Maxima is due for a makeover which it will soon get. 2016 Nissan Maxima Nismo model is already touted as one of the most exciting prospects that came out from both Nissan’s executive and performance lineups.
Under the Hood
It seems that next-gen Maxima is going to be offered with the same 3.5L V6 which makes 290 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. However, Nismo division will use everything at their disposal to tweak, both engine and the body in order to squeeze as much as they can from it. This way, 2016 Nissan Maxima Nismo will surely generate more than 300 hp, possibly even 350 ponies. Moreover, it can safely be expected that current Maxima’s CVT transmission won’t even get near Nismo model which will be reserved for manual gearbox. Design will be pure Nismo-like. Projection or not, but 0-60 mph Nismo reaches for less than 5.5 seconds.

Styling – Interior and Exterior
But, first things first. Eighth generation Maxima will be closely connected with Nissan’s Sport Sedan concept which debuted around a year ago. This means: V-motion front end, longer wheelbase, wider body and lower roof. In detail, it means that new Maxima is finally ready to discard its bland look and adopt sharp grille and headlights up front which should be coupled with contemporary rear end. Nismo enters the fray here and elevates new Maxima’s appeal even more with its special low-profile bumpers, angular profile creases and pure black color with red details.
2016 Nissan Maxima Nismo will be mostly about performance with its tweaked engine, and special Nismo suspension and body. However, interior will be highly comfortable and refined, even though with some sport touches. First of all, Nismo Maxima will offer supportive seats and gripping steering wheel. Moreover, red stitches in upholstery will match red details found outside. 7-inch display will most likely be carried over, and Nismo version will offer it as standard piece of equipment, together with most of its supportive systems.
Navigation will be optional in all conventional models, and even Nismo version will hardly benefit from standard navigation. Safety features should be in consolidation with top tier Maxima models and 2016 Nissan Maxima Nismo will certainly offer standard rearview camera and a few new advanced electronic active safety systems as well.
2016 Nissan Maxima Nismo Price
Fuel efficiency is the category where Nissan Maxima doesn’t really shine. With 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, previous models imposed a great penalty upon themselves from the get-go. These figures won’t change much in next generation, not with the same powertrain, at least. That’s why new Maxima Nismo most likely won’t offer much more than 20 to 22 mpg combined.
Price of a Nismo model will be highest of all Maxima’s and expect a tag of around $45,000. If we look some official websites, estimated price of this model is around 30,000 dollars (with standard features).
2016 Nissan Maxima Nismo will finally offer some spark to Japanese auto maker’s flagship sedan which seemed to be in a coma of sorts. Whole Maxima’s lineup is, in fact, going to be more exciting, and Nismo version will lead the pack.
