One of the best stylized SUVs is 2016 Porsche Cayenne. The Cayenne has basically been the savior of Porsche back in the day when sales weren’t that good. This is the car which gave Porsche the boost it has today and thanks to it they managed to build such amazing cars.
The latest 2016 Porsche Cayenne is going to be a mid life facelift which is going to refresh the look of the car, it is also going to improve the handling which is no small feat on one of the best driving SUVs in history and they are also planning on adding a few new engines.
The Engine range and Performance
Engine wise, there will be a few different engines to choose from. Just as we said before, there are plans on introducing new engines to the range but we’re unsure yet on what these may be. As far as we know, the base engine in the 2016 Cayenne is going to be a similar 3.6 liter aspirated V6 with up to 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Further up the range, the supercharged 3 liter engine will still be available and it will be making up to 340 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque which is probably the sweet spot for the petrol engines.
However, the 4.8 liter aspirated V8 will be changed in the favor of a smaller 3.6 liter turbocharged V6. This will not only be making more power at around 440 horsepower but also a lot more torque with up to 460 lb-ft of torque.
As far as the diesel engines go, there will be the same two as before with minor modifications in order to provide more power. The base 3 liter V6 will make around 260 horsepower and up to 390 lb-ft of torque while the 4.1 liter V8 will provide up to 400 horsepower and more than 480 lb-ft of torque.
All of these engines will be available only with all wheel drive and an 8 speed automatic transmission except the base car which comes as standard with a new 7 speed manual. The automatic is silky smooth and really easy to operate while the manual could be improve because it does need constant changing of gears in order to make the car go.
Design – Interior and Exterior
The exterior of the 2016 Porsche Cayenne will also receive a minor update in the form of a new front end. This will get an updated bumper with different air intakes for a more streamlined designed as well as a more aggressive look. The headlights will also change but Porsche hasn’t released anything on these just yet. Other changes of the exterior will include new wheels for the S model which now has the Turbocharged engine rather than the old V8 and also a whole new design scheme for the upcoming hybrid.
Inside the Cayenne things will remain very similar to the older generation. Considering this is a luxury SUV you will receive most of the equipment as standard which is really nice but it still lacks the style of a Bentley. There are plans on improving all that but Porsche said they will do it with the next model which is said to be released in 2019.
2016 Porsche Cayenne Price
As far as the price goes, it will remain mostly unchanged at roughly 50.000 dollars for a base car and up to 110.000 dollars or even more for a fully equipped top of the range model. Considering all of its European competitors are going for roughly the same price, the Cayenne has a real advantage thanks to the way it drives. However, it will have to struggle against some of the American competitors because all of these are going for a much smaller price which should mean that the Porsche needs to do a lot more for the price it’s selling at.
