The 2016 Ram Laramie Limited has been presented at Chicago Auto Show. After six years, fourth generation of Ram pickup trucks is coming to an end. Honestly, we don’t see the need for that move as former Dodge nameplate already introduced a bunch of changes on the run, but competition doesn’t sleep as well.
This especially goes for Ford F-150 which had shifted generations last year and currently has the upper hand. However, when you take a look at 2016 Ram Laramie Limited model which sits atop the full-size pickup’s lineup, it is hard to discern why that’s the case?
2016 Ram Laramie Limited Drivetrain
For starters, Laramie Limited is offered exclusively with Crew cab for biggest comfort, fitting of its supreme refinement. Moreover, it also offers somewhat shortened bed options as there’s no 8-foot option with it. Instead Laramie Limited comes with either 5-foot seven or 6-foot four boxes, but at least there’s a choice between rear and all-wheel drive.
Base engine is also unavailable at the top of the range, and 2016 Ram Laramie Limited can be ordered with basic 5.7L HEMI V8 engine which gives 395 hp and 407 lb-ft of torque. If you want to save on fuel in the future, class-exclusive Cummins 3.0L turbo diesel V6 is your alternate choice. This engine makes 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, and is tied to the same 8-speed automatic transmission as HEMI V8.

Design – Changes and Description
There aren’t many differences between this and other Ram’s trim levels, at least from design’s point of view. Slight discrepancies are visible all over the truck’s body, however, and they are mostly noticeable up front. That’s where Laramie Limited models get their full-bodied chrome grille which looks majestic. Chromed side mirrors, scuff plates and bumpers are here as well, and truck offers a choice between couple of identical 20-inch wheels; base aluminum paint/chrome inserts or optional polished aluminum forged wheels.

2016 Ram Laramie Limited boasts with Natura Plus all-leather seating, genuine Argento wood accents and unique instrument panel also coated in wood. 8.4-inch touch screen display with Uconnect infotainment system is standard, together with navigation and 9 amplified speakers with subwoofer. Front seats are both heated and ventilated, while rear seats are only heated, but feature under seat storage compartment. It would take too much time describing all the advantages of this premium truck and you have to see it up close in order to get a clearer picture.
2016 Ram Laramie Limited Price and MPG
Base Laramie Limited options with HEMI powertrain are rated at 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway in RWD layout, while AWD option lowers highway figures by a point. Cummins turbo diesel engine and rear-wheel drive yield 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel drive cuts both figures by a single point. Laramie Limited costs at least $49,430 in 4×2 and 5-foot seven box config. 4×4 and 6-foot four configuration cost $52,875, and Cummins powertrain costs additional $3,120.
2016 Ram Laramie Limited is one of the most refined and luxuriously outfitted trucks in the market. It certainly is Ram’s own top model, but even its competitors have trouble competing with it, no matter how refined they are. Moreover, thanks to its high-performing engines, Ram Laramie Limited is capable of towing any cargo fitting for its class.
