The new 2016 Renault Kadjar is the perfect example of French design ingenuity. New compact crossover threatens to become one of the best cars in its niche when European market is concerned. And this is quite a feat since the car was just revealed at this year’s Geneva Auto Show.
Engine range and Specs
This vehicle is a result of Renault-Nissan cooperation and as that features a range of Nissan Qashqai’s engines. This compact wouldn’t be so European if it didn’t receive at least one diesel engine as an option. New Kadjar gets two, however: 110-horsepower 1.5L 4-cylinder and 130-horsepower 1.6L 4-cylinder. Apart from those couple of oil burners, Frenchman will also get 130-horsepower 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol option. Finally, both front and all-wheel drive configurations will be available, and so will be both automatic and manual gearboxes.
Styling – Inside and Outside look
Like pretty much every car that comes from France, 2016 Renault Kadjar executes a sleek, expressive styling. This handsome compact crossover gets a sleek, rounded-off frontal fascia with a fine looking grille. Laid-back headlights complete the picture up front, while car’s midsection features a large dent-like crease below the door handles. Things look great around the back as well. That’s where Kadjar is finished by trapezoidal tail-lights and a large tailgate which makes it visually larger than car actually is.
Interior gives just what you would expect from it; nothing more and nothing less. There’s plenty of plastic across the cabin, but it’s of softer variety. Asymmetric instrument panel gets a large touch screen display which every Renault has nowadays. This R-Link 2 infotainment system offers all connectivity features to operate through a touch of a finger, and top models get the navigation as well. Other than that, you’ll be able to charge up your phone or iPad thanks to USB charger, and stream music over Bluetooth.
Being a compact car, 2016 Renault Kadjar won’t really boast too many high-tech options and even less luxury equipment. Most of available models will get fabric cloth upholstery, but top grades should benefit from leather-trimmed seats. Finally, you’ll be able to enjoy music thanks to Bose surround sound system. Apart from all mandatory safety systems which include airbags, anti-lock brakes and stability control, Kadjar is supposed to offer 360-degree sensors for surround-view camera, parking assist and traffic recognition system which are pretty advanced options for such a small crossover.

2016 Renault Kadjar Price and MPG
Fuel economy ratings aren’t officially out yet, but most efficient versions of the car are supposed to reach 62 mpg combined on European NEDC cycle. These figures would be considerably lower in the states, but that’s one place where Kadjar doesn’t go. Base models are supposed to cost around £16,000 when they get out later this year, but the final figures for top models should easily surpass the £20,000 mark.
2016 Renault Kadjar should be a fine refreshment for overseas compact crossover markets. You could import one to the U.S. but additional costs aren’t really justified as there are similarly good options here as well. In any case, Kadjar should be able to offer everything a modern compact crossover is supposed to, and with a style at that.
