2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE – first spy video and details

The new 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE was captured at Nürburgring, so on this page you can see first spy photos and details. New, sixth generation Camaro doesn’t bring too many changes, but it does show Chevy’s intent to follow the car industry’s latest trends. Next year models will continue where they have left off, and 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE should represent one of the few changes that pony car’s lineup is about to exhibit.

1LE package is currently unavailable with the new models, and this should be rectified next year. Furthermore, retro performance package is only available with SS models which means that you won’t be able to mate it to the new, 4-cylinder turbo buzzer.

Under the Hood

With previous statement taken into account, 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE comes exclusively with Camaro SS’ 6.2L V-8 mill which is capable of putting up 455 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is still the only available option, and 1LE package explicitly forbids combination with automatic transmission. Instead, every Camaro SS fitted with this performance pack comes exclusively with 6-speed stick – as it should.

The Engine range
Type Engine V8 – 6.2 liter
Torque 455
Horsepower 455
0-60 time 4.3
Top Speed 155 mph

As you can to see, here’s very short review about performance, there are only spy photos and no official details about engine. According to the reports, first official details will be presented in first quarter 2016 year.

Design – Changes and Updates

Performance isn’t the only category which offers differences compared to rest of the conventional lineup. 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE comes with slightly updated chassis, but mostly in terms of visuals. That way, Chevy’s iconic buzzer comes up with 20-inch unique black wheels, blacked-out hood with some performance air intakes and special Brembo disk brakes. It also gets black lip spoiler around the back, but otherwise remains the same.

That said, new generation of Camaro’s clearly resembles the previous one as it still features very similar gaping frontal fascia and squared-off rear end. Chassis cues are more contemporary and vivid, however, and that’s probably the biggest difference between the models.

Inside view

Interior hasn’t gone through many changes as well. Same will most likely go for the 1LE package as well. Even though it’s a special version of the SS, 1LE model features very similar arrangements and not at all expensive cabin. However, basic cloth seats are not the option here and you’ll have to upgrade to Recaro Alcantara upholstery. Same goes for the steering wheel and the shifter. Apart from that, 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE gets the same 7-inch touch screen display that other models benefit from.

Navigation package might be optional, but 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is now standard in almost all GM’s nameplates – Camaro including. Finally, you can decide to splash the cash in order to additionally customize your 1LE Camaro with optional power sunroof and number of other visual upgrades.

Safety options

Safety regulations are getting more strict by the year, but Camaro and most of its competitors aren’t really known for stellar ratings and even less for their advanced safety systems. 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE will, however, offer a rearview camera, blind-spot monitors, forward collision warning and rear parking sensors which is still more than a number of other cars around the market do.

2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE Price and MPG

While new turbo four might be more efficient than anything that has ever moved Camaro, 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE sticks to the old ways which emphasize on sheer power and performance. Needless to say, fuel economy suffers for that and you shouldn’t expect better figures than 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. However, let us first wait for EPA’s official numbers which are still to be released. Finally, 1LE adds around $4,000 on initial SS model’s price which makes this car a $42,000 affair at the very least.

2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE will be another capable performer from Camaro’s base lineup which shows that you don’t really have to go for a Z/28 in order to get some speed out of the car. It’s also a cheaper option which doesn’t even try to hide its ruggedness and lack of more refined materials.

The biggest competitors are: Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker and Ford Mustan GT.

When it comes recapitulation, one of the biggest advantages is acceptable price and new imrovements.
