The second generation of the 2017 Hyundai Equus will be available in early next year. For some time now Hyundai Company works on stepping into the luxurious segment. New higher trim levels of models like Genesis and Sonata were just the beginning, and the closest attempt to enter this segment and start competing with Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Cadillac and Lexus LS the release of the 2017 Hyundai Equus. Luxury sedan with rear wheel drive will be competing with some of the most popular cars of this segment like Mercedes S Class, BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS.
Photographers recently spotted this model under the heavy camouflage, while it was testing near the Arctic circle. So, we hope, that the first officially photos will be available in early 2016 year.
Design – Inside and Outside look
For Hyundai terms this model is definitely a ground breaking vehicle. It comes with very aggressive exterior design that also inspired Hyundai engineers to change the new Genesis sedan. In the front this car will come with upright front end, six piece grille that we already saw on some other Hyundai models and full LED headlights. In the back Equus will have some influences from the Mercedes S Class, with the horizontal taillights and powerful looking exhaust outlets. From the profile it will come with the squared off roof and multi spoke wheels.
2017 Hyundai Equus – Inside view
When it comes to construction this is going to be a very rigid car, the combination of high-strenght steel and light-weight aluminum will make interior little bit less comfy than the ones we can see in some other luxury models. We can expect some nice materials inside the cabin and plenty of soft touch surfaces. New model will also have leather upholstery and we still don’t have the information about some other more luxurious materials like carbon-fiber or woodtrim.
When it comes to tech we can expect usual infotainment and telematics package that comes with higher trim levels of Hyundai Genesis and Sonata as well as two zone climate control and Bose audio system.
The Engine range
Performance segment is not going to much different from the drivetrains we can find in other Hyundai vehicles of similar size. This means that the new model will come with 5,0 liter V8 engine which is going to be paired with 8 speed transmission. Maybe the company will add another smaller turbocharged engine, it might just be a 3,3 liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and the bigger V8 might also get some more tuning to be more productive and fuel efficient. When it comes to transmission, we mights see another kind in one or two years, because Hyundai announced that it wants to replace its standard 8 speed automatic with 10 speed automatic, in several of its models.
2017 Hyundai Equus Price
One of the most competitive segments when it comes to 2017 Hyundai Equus is its price, because it isnt definitely going to be less expensive that its main Mercedes and BMW counterparts and the same goes for Lexus LS. That’s why we might see this model also competing with the least expensive luxury sedan in America today Kia K900.
Both Kia and Hyundai will probably cost around $70,000. This price is for the Equus that will come with turbocharged V6, if Hyundai decides not to add this engine, we might expect some higher prices.
The biggest competitors: Kia K900 and Lexus LS.
