2017 Nissan Leaf – Range and Release date

2017 Nissan Leaf is another EV competitor of the Toyota Prius and unlike most other hybrid vehicles this car really has a potential on becoming as iconic as its main rival. It has an easily branding rounded shape and it is classified as a hatchback.

It is very user friendly and comes with the great fuel efficiency. Leaf is one of the most affordable electric cars and its great driving manners are placing it on the head of the list of eco-concious cars. Other than Prius its main competitors are Fiat 500e and Chevrolet Spark EV. Ford 2017 models year we don’t know too much about this vehcile’s updates, but we think that it might get another drive mode that will come with more aggressive brakes and higher performance.

Design – Inside and Outside look

This vehicle almost has no grille and its rounded shape can easily become iconic when it comes to electric cars. It comes with some great lighting treatments and its headlights are as long as its hood since they sweep into the body all the way up. Its taillights are also big and in the rear end they form another separate part that stands out in the terms or rear design. Charging port of this vehicle is placed on top of its small grille and marked with the Nissan badge.

2017 Nissan Leaf comes with big windows and very high roof. This gives a great visibility to the driver and also offers an airy and spacey cabin, especially when it comes to head room. Another great thing about this vehicle is the amount of cargo space it has, which is much bigger than the rest of the similar vehicles. Front seats are very comfortable and offer a lot of head and leg room, while the back seat is good for the hatchback class.

One of the weirder things when it comes to this vehicle is its strange shift lever that is not at all traditional. Instead Nissan used a small orb that can toggle up for reverse move, go down for drive and go to the side to neutral state.

The Engine range

This vehicles has only one electric motor option. We are talking about AC synchronous electric motor that can produce up to 107 horsepower and 187 pound feet of torque. This motor is connected to the 24 kWh lithium-ion battery and comes with one of the biggest EPA estimated ranges of 84 miles. It also has superb fuel economy equivalent and it can go for 126 mpg in the city and 107 mpg on the highway.

When it comes to price 2017 Nissan Leaf base version starts from $30,000 which is great for everything this electric car has to offer. Depending on the trim level it can also cost $33,000 and the top price for the mid level SV trim is the $37,000.

This sounds like a lot but when you think about it its starting price is a lot less than starting price of the competitor vehicles like Fiat 500e, Chevy Volt or Chevy Spart EV. Top package comes with some really nice electric saving features that can’t be found in any other vehicle like this.

The biggest competitors are Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Chevrolet Volt.
