Pagani is well known for making exclusive hyper-cars which manage to outperform most others out there. However, because it is such a small manufacturer, they only have a limited supply of engines coming from AMG which means they can only build a limited amount of cars. Earlier in 2015 Pagani sold the last 100th Huayra, a car which cost well over $1 million.
In order to continue production, they are now going to release on the market a couple of new special edition models of the greatly appreciated Huayra with the release of the 2017 Pagani Huayra convertible and its high performance counterpart, the BC.
What’s new for 2017 model year?
So far, Pagani has confirmed that the cabriolet version of the car will come on the market in 2016, most likely at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show. They also stated that the car will be more powerful, lighter and faster than its predecessor. On top of that, the BC will be built only in 20 units and unlike the cabriolet, it will be a coupe with a lot of track-focused upgrades.
Redesign – changes & updates
Let’s start our small preview of the upcoming 2017 Pagani Huayra with the convertible version because it will likely be built in quite a few more units. Just like with most other manufacturers, the cabriolet will also use the same carbon fiber chassis of the coupe. However, unlike most other cars out there, the car is expected to be lighter than its coupe-counterpart and this is because Pagani will not need to add any reinforcements to its chassis in order to keep it as rigid as the coupe. This will be possible thanks to its highly advanced carbon fiber backbone.
The interior is expected to be very similar but this time around it will be water proof and it should also receive a bit more equipment than before such as standard heated and ventilated seats.
The BC version of the car will be a coupe instead of a convertible and while there aren’t any official details available about it, the car has been spied testing ever since the late 2015 and not too long ago, Pagani also showcased a few pictures of a camouflaged car which was equipped with a large fixed wing, different forged wheels as well as it looked to have larger brakes and it was also lower. However, it was not as low as some other super-cars which suggest that it will not be a track-version only.
Pure Performance & Specs
Engine wise we still have no official words about what will power the 2017 Pagani Huayra, especially now when their contract with AMG finished. Some rumors suggest that both cars will receive the same engine and the difference in performance will come from the weight difference. The new engine should be a similar 6 liter twin-turbocharged V12 which will likely come from AMG as well. This time around though, the car will likely see 5 to 15% increases in power and torque in order to allow it to compete with the best hyper-cars out there.
This means it should make nearly 900 horsepower and more than 900 lb-ft of torque which together with the rear wheel drive transmission and the very light body should make for a really interesting car to drive.
The gearbox is going to receive a few tweaks as well in order to allow the new Huayra to get to 60 MPH in less than 2.5 seconds and get up to a maximum top speed higher than 220 MPH.
2017 Pagani Huayra Price
The price for the two is still unknown but rumors suggest that the cabriolet will cost around $1,5 million while the BC version could cost well over $2 million, especially since it will only be built in 20 units.
The biggest rival is the upcoming Bugatti Chiron.
